Conceptual Physical Science for Arab Students by Mohammed Mustafa Jibaly D.Sc
Science is a daily experience for all of us. We encounter it in our homes, streets, transportation, workplaces, schools, and personal belongings. Science is in the light that we see, the sound that we hear, the air that we breathe, and the food that we eat! Even without a formal scientific training, people acquire a basic scientific knowledge, taking it for granted, and employing it with striking familiarity.
Our goal in this textbook is to put some basic scientific principles into perspective, bringing them closer to the students' understanding, and relating them to their background and experience.
This book targets Freshman-level students in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries where pre-college science is commonly taught in Arabic. Many students, therefore, are deficient in scientific English terminology. Thus, the material is presented in simple language, in addition to providing the Arabic meaning of keywords and other words that are judged to be difficult for this level.
This book is divided evenly between physics and chemistry, totaling to 10 chapters. Each chapter is concluded with a large collection of multiple-choice questions similar to what students normally encounter in examinations. All of this is based on the Author's long experience in teaching physics to preparatory-year's students in Saudi Arabia.
Whether it is used as a main textbook or supplementary reference, we sincerely hope that this book will offer tangible benefits for Arab students, providing them with solid basic scientific knowledge upon which they can build in their further studies.
